When a board sustains damage in the middle of a laminate floor you have two options for replacing it.

One is to disassemble the floor down to the damaged board replace the board and reassemble. Most of the early laminate floors were fastened with glue. Pergo laminate flooring is durable but it won t hold up to everything.
Apply floor glue to the edges of the replacement board. Slip a dowel or scrap piece of flooring under the seam. You have to cut off the tongue on both sides the short and long edge of the board. The repair process is basically the same.
Use a hammer and chisel or putty knife to remove baseboards or molding near the damaged boards. Now it comes time for the replacement laminate plank. Raise the floor to gain leverage. As soon as you ve glued and closed the board to board gap wipe off any glue that squeezed out onto the surface using a damp rag.
Follow all the cutting directions shown for a snap together floor. But that doesn t mean you can t do an in place patch on those floors too. When you damage a single board you have a few options for making the repair. Laminate flooring brands may also require trimming of the groove along a short edge so the new plank will sit in place.
How to repair a single board in pergo floors. Laminate floor buckling like lifting can be caused by changes in temperature and humidity levels. Fix concrete subfloors with a patching compound and for wood subfloors remove protruding nails and replace any damaged boards. If laminate flooring gaps have appeared chances are excellent that you can push the gap closed by hand without resorting to a tool.
After removing the existing flooring baseboards and quarter moulding check that the subfloor is solid flat and clean. If the boards came apart then the will go back together. Fit in the new laminate board and then reassemble the floor using a tapping block to join the laminate planks to each other. Use the same procedure to remove all the planks in the first row and then keep going until you reach the damaged one.
Replace the baseboards and you re done. Fix the replacement laminate plank immediately before the glue dries up place a heavy weight on the plank for 24 hours as that is how long the glue takes to dry and bind the plank in place this is the easy way to replace a damaged laminate floor plank.
